The repository was established at the Institute of Slavic Studies, Polish Academy of Sciences with the organisational support of The Slavic Foundation
Unique, specialized repository of doctoral theses, their abstracts, reviews and preprints of scientific papers in the field of world-Slavic linguistics and related fields serves the dissemination and popularisation of scientific papers, and thus facilitates the exchange of scientific ideas between researchers in different centres and countries. The project's goal is also the dissemination of knowledge in the field of Slavic linguistics and related fields among non-specialists and people outside the scientific community and academia. The repository is conceived as an innovative, comparative and interdisciplinary source of texts with extensive bibliographic descriptions. iReteslaw is a thematic repository, which distinguishes it from institutional repositories. As a result, the content and scope of the database is wider than it is in traditional repositories, limited to the publications of a given scientific institution.
All items in the repository are published in open access, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence (until 2022 – under the CC BY 3.0 PL licence). Consequently, they can be obtained free of charge by all users, including institutions. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print and search the full text of each volume, as well as publish link to it, without seeking permission from either the publisher or the author(s).
