Jozef Obrebski – Poreche 80 years later

The film “Józef Obrębski – Poreche 80 years later” was shot by Karolina Bielenin-Lenczowska and Jan Lenczowski in 2015 as part of the project “Macedonian Poreche 80 years after Józef Obrębski’s fieldwork. Anthropology of continuity and change” (no. 2011/01/D/HS3/03583) financed by the Polish National Centre of Science (Narodowe Centrum Nauki) and led by Karolina Bielenin-Lenczowska. It is a documentary on the contemporary memory of Józef Obrębski in the Poreche villages, where he conducted his fieldwork in 1932–1933. It contains also several interviews with Macedonian and Polish ethnographers and anthropologists who research Poreche following “Josif” and acquaint the present day audience with his forgotten legacy.

The film was presented at the 7th International Festival of Ethnographic Films in Kratovo, Macedonia, on the 5–7 of October, 2018.
