Abstract:
The article focuses on analysis of colour terms in the system of Ukrainian business names. Structure of this class of proper names is of complex character, while both simple and derivative colour adjectives are employed in the commercial names formation. Similar to other proper names classes, it is of multilinguistic character, with stems from Ukrainian, English, and Russian being used. In several cases ‘colour’ motivation is of secondary character when business names include place names with colour terms. Motivation of such names is of rather locative nature, however, they can maintain certain ideological connotations.
