dc.description.abstract Each science, which is in the process of its formation, has a number of synonyms on a term basis, which is explained by the lack of certainty terminology. Unification of terminological systems requires the selection of such a term, which would most closely correspond to the denoted concept. The words are accumulated which denote scientific concepts, they subsequently pass through the consciousness of the people they serve, there is a certain testing, parsing, polishing, comprehension, and finally, the professional selection of the names that most accurately denote scientific concepts, that is, the term system is formed. Linguistics of the text as one of the young linguistic branches at the present stage of its development contains many synonyms. There are synonyms for denoting units of text: supraphrasal unity and a complex syntactic whole; there is signs confusing the notion and categories of text, there is a different division of categories, different names and different categories, which often form synonymous chains. The article analyzes the synonyms found in the linguistics of the text, attempts to learn them, their existence, relevance of functioning in the scientific and educational discipline. It is shown the difference in the denotion of scientific concepts at school and University textbooks in the presentation material about the text. It is pointed out the view of prof. F. Batsevich about some of them. The author of the first textbooks on linguistics of the text proposed a series of own terms on the denoting certain scientific concepts, which are devoid of synonyms, and precisely and unambiguously convey the essence of denoted notion. en
