Abstract:
The concept by Ivan Kovalyk of word-formation as a component of language system are considered in this article within the context of the theory and practice of modern Slavic derivatology and trends of the development of the Ukrainian language. Special attention is paid to the justification of the concept derivateme. The urgency of derivateme to which the status of the basic unit of word-formative system of language was given in the concept by Ivan Kovalyk is underlined. Ivan Kovalyk had determined derivateme as a top-level complex systemic word-formative unit which models the interaction of categorical word-formative meaning with formal word-formative structures. Derivateme summarizes the whole spectrum of word-formative resources available in the language for verbalization of certain concepts. It is completed structure of word-formative system by national language. On the basis of conception by Ivan Kovalyk the article suggests to arrange word-formative structure within derivatemes according to the their productivity and activity or to form derivateme as a gradual opposition. Due to this structure of certain derivateme will present center and periphery of language resources for the nomination of certain categorical meaning. Such model of derivateme is demonstrated in the article by derivates with categorical meaning 'action as subject'. Derivateme also opens prospects for the researchers and speakers to determine the competitiveness of a certain resource as well as to study the interaction of own and borrowed formants and also it exemplifies the dynamics of word-formative standards in modern language. These processes in the analyzed category by the suffixes -нн(я) and -ізаціj(а)/-изаціj(а), -нн(я) and -к(а) are demonstrated.
