Abstract:
Phraseological units of the Ukrainian, Polish and Slovak languages motivated by folk beliefs of the Slavs about demonic and semi-demonic female creatures are analyzed in the article. The common Slavic and specific national features of encoding the ethno-cultural information in the phraseological units of the languages under study are singled out and described. It has been established that the phraseology of the Ukrainian, Polish and Slovak languages mostly encodes the ethno-cultural information about external and internal features of demonic and semi-demonic creatures and their malicious activity towards humans.
