Abstract:
The article outlines the composition and specificity of Ukrainian Museum Studies term system. In accordance with the terms’ semantics and their functionality, the following thematic term groups have been distinguished in Ukrainian museum studies term system as denoting: names of establishments and institutions, those of museum establishments: a) by relevant types; b) by legal subordination; c) by the type of the object stored; names of the museum departments; those of museum groups and their representatives; names of job titles of , machinery and equipment; those of management departments and organizations; titles of regulations and documents etc. The thematic groups of any term system develop depending on the composition and development of their members, basic and non-basic, on the decline of some and rise of others, transition of words from one group to another. Old crumble and majors museum professionals; names of objects thematic groups and many new ones rise, primarily of late, when an intensive development of science, arts and technology as well as major historic changes in the social life of the state have brought about the rise of numerous new terms. Any thematic classification of the vocabulary is relative to this or that extent as one cannot clearly delineate among the distinguished groups in question, which indicates the open nature of the thematic group.
