dc.description.abstract The article gives the Andrey Sheptytskyj’s perception of Ukrainian as native language, his conception concerning this language as the main factor in the process of state development, in outspreading Christianity in different social stratums. In the article there is also defined the main features and analyzed lexical means, which characterize Andrey Sheptytskyj’s individual style. The goal of the article is to get closer to understanding what relations has Metropolitan with his native language. We can circle two branches in this field. The first one – theoretical – was based on that views and thoughts, that Andrey Sheptytskyj promulgated directly or in connection with other questions. The second one – practical – is visible in individual style of his writing and demonstrate Andrey Sheptytskyj’s skills of applying of Ukrainian. The research was based on Andrey Sheptytskyj’s pastoral massages and homiletics. en
