Abstract:
The article concerns two problems, which prove to be topical for the European and respectively for Slavic word-formation in recent years:
1. The meaning of the terms “neoclassicism” and “neoclassical word-formation” and the need they to be confirmed in word-formation terminology. Concerning these terms the question is put is there a difference between West European and Slavic word-formation when using and interpreting elements from Classic Greek and Latin languages.
2. The article studies the most typical manifestations of classical word-formation elements: generation of new meanings, expanding of distribution, enrichment of word-formation resources, blurring of the boundaries between composition and affixation in favor of name prefixation.
