Abstract

By analyzing semantically-deriving nests of nouns with intellectual attributes (ум, памет, свест, дух и душа), according to a semantic and formation criteria, we have pointed out the following: an inventory of formation formants, their semantic and functional value and parts of the semantic contents and concepts which have been transferred from the contents of the formation base to a derivative. One of the findings of such an analysis, which we have primarily been undertaking, had to do with those formation mechanisms which uncover the participation of certain components from the semantic contents of the formation base. Most of all it concerns prefix and prefix-suffix formation. We’ve also highlighted how, to a degree, in a combination of formation formants of this type and the formation base of abstract meanings, the conceptualization of motive lexemes, or rather their conceptual metaphores, is uncovered. This is especially prominent in verb formation.
