Abstract:
The article «Use of Church Slavonic language word formation resources in the modern Russian language (in comparison with the Serbian language)» analyzes the use of word-building means of the Church Slavonic language in the modern Russian church-religious discourse on the example of sermons of Archimandrite Ioann (Krestyankin). His works preserve high style of the Russian language. The analysis indicates that the sources of high style of the modern Russian language are still words, morphemes and word formation models borrowed from the Church Slavonic language. In the modern Russian language stylistically marked units are prefixes пре-, пред-, из-, воз-, со-, suffixes -ство-, -стви(j)-, -ейш/-айш-, and Church Slavonic models of complex words. In last part of the article, the author raises a question about the use of word formation and lexical units of the Church Slavonic language in the Serbian religious discourse in comparison with the Russian one.
