Abstract:
In the image basis of phraseological units data about life and culture of different peoples are decoded. The cultural elements are taken from the denotatum which lies in the basis of the image of the phraseological unit. In bilingual phraseological units it is important not only to select an analogical adequacy but to supply information about their image basis. In this paper a translation of the image basis and a description of the cultural discourse referring to science, history, religion, philosophy, the social sphere, etc., is given. This is an important link in the reconstruction of different fragments of the picture of the world, specific for any linguistic and cultural community.
