The paper ‘А Linguocultural View on the Most Recent Anglo-American Proverbs in The Dictionary of Modern Proverbs, compiled by Charles Сlay Doyle, Wolfgang Mieder and Fred R. Shapiro, New Haven and London: Yale University Press, 2012’ discusses in broad linguocultural terms the proverb corpus of the dictionary by analyzing fifty random examples of proverbs through the application of the cultureme with an aim to revealing some aspects of their cultural semantics and pointing the way to further systematic studies.
