Abstract:
Among the major principles of the modern teaching of the foreign languages are the practical orientation and the functional approach, i.e. including situations, thematic and problems from real life into the studying process. Also, it is important for the peoples to discover the „world“ of the language – the traditions, the history, the culture and lifestyle of the nation speaking the language in question. The new manual of Bulgarian language, named Bulgarian language. Practical Course in its lexical aspect facilitates the development of the communicative competence. Everyday situations, presented in the texts reflect the life of modern youths, words and expressions, typical of the modern young people in Bulgaria, are presented in the dialogs. The cultural and other background information about the country is presented in authentic texts, as well in specifically written for learning purposes. For better understanding of the stylistic variations of Bulgarian, the manual contains examples of the literary texts, texts of publicistic genre and popular science. There are also anecdotes, jokes, idiomatic expression and proverbs reflecting the cultural thought pattern and mentality of Bulgarians. Also there is description and explanation of the gesticulation, included in Bulgarian etiquette (which differs from the Russian).
