Abstract:
Bulgarian lexicology has developed since the middle of the 20th century. During the 19th century some issues were discussed and agreed upon related to the lexical norm. In the 50s of the 20th century the first research centers were established and the specialized scientists were formed. The first two generations of lexicologists studied the main lexical and semantic phenomena, the source of the Bulgarian lexis, the language systems, the language of writers and phraseology. In the 21st century the attention of the third generation of lexicologists was focused on describing concepts as well as national and socio-cultural specificities, reflected in the lexis; studying neologisms and terminology, developing general scientific works.
