Abstract:
The author specified the notion of the national heritage in terms of the relationship
of the language and the culture by accepting the collective memory, fixed in
the semantic structure of words, the symbol and the ritual, as the starting point.
Applying the theory of cognitive image schemas, the author sought to present the
manner of functioning of structural metaphors: BOND is a CHAIN/THREAD/
TIE/UMBILICAL CORD) in both verbal and non-verbal (a symbolic gesture and
ritual) communication. The symbolic image adds extrasensory meaning to commonness,
due to which the language and the symbol co-create the cultural reality.
