Abstract:
Nestor Marcoff has 180 years anniversary in 2016. We examine his versatile activities in Bulgarian history of education. The contribution of N. Marcoff to physics education up to 1878 is noteworthy. Penetration of European scientific terminology in Bulgarian textbooks on physics is determined. Nestor Marcoff translated the college textbook on statics written by G. Olivier from French to Bulgarian language. Some underlying purposes are shown by comparison with mechanical scientific terminology of Bulgarian textbooks.
