dc.description.abstract The paper suggests drawing a distinction between the concepts univerbizatsiya and uni- verbirane (Vl. Murdarov’s term), defines univerbat-s as products of univerbirane, and clarifies the content of the concept language economy. Univerbizatsiya is interpreted as the language property to derive one-word lexical units from motivating stable multi-word units. This property is likely to turn into a tendency based on the more general principle of language economy. Univerbirane is treated as an act/process of deriving one-word units (univerbat-s) from stable multi-word units. en_US
