Abstract:
The issue of masculinisation of substantives in Bulgarian language that mark professions, degrees, titles etc, remains open. Word-forming possibilities of language as well as language democratisation, on the one hand, and tradition and absence of categorical rules regimenting grammatical gender depending on natural gender, on the other, condition various trends in linguistic practice, what is diversely reflected in individual lexicographic works. What is more the issue is even more complex in bilingual lexicography if masculinastion is an atypical element in one of the two languages at comparison. Problems that arise during lexicographic processing of this phenomenon that is typical for Bulgarian language when compared to Slovak language serve as the object of this article.
