Abstract:
The present paper is dedicated to fixed sequences expressing intensity in Bulgarian and French. The object of this study are the adjective sequences containing a comparison with като/comme. Analyzed is the semantic mechanism behind the expression of intensity. The paper examines the variety of images included in this category of comparative structures in the two studied languages. The investigation throws light on the similarities and the differences of the associative thinking of the bearers of Bulgarian and French languages which gave rise of this type of comparative sequences.
