Abstract:
For many years Polish-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-Polish comparative lexicography have not been very fortunate in having linguistic monographs in Poland apart from the first, published towards the end of 2014 booklet Contemporary Bulgarian-Polish Dictionary by Joanna Satoła-Staśkowiak and Violetta Koseska-Toszewa. In recent years neither neologisms have been recorded nor larger lexicographical works concerning both languages have been published. The only exception constitutes published recently and containing solely colloquial lexis Bulgarian-Polish Dictionary of Colloquial Lexis (Sotirov et al. 2011 – 2013). The dictionary is the last recorded achievement in the field of comparison of both languages on the plane of colloquialisms but does not constitute a source of knowledge about the newest lexis. The article is a reflexion on the need for Polish-Bulgarian dictionary of neologisms which would compensate for the current losses in recording the latest Polish and Bulgarian lexis and allow ‘calmer’ anticipation of another Bulgarian-Polish booklets. In the article the author discusses the concept of Dictionary of Polish-Bulgarian Neologisms, its virtues and desirable effects resulting from its publication.
