Abstract:
The issue of false friends remains substantial in contrastive linguistics. The notion of false friends is presented in many different ways depending on the scholar's scientific tradition and theoretical apparatus. The variety of terminological and methodical approaches to false friends was a challenge for the authors of the The Dictionary of Active Polish and Ukrainian Phraseology" (Leksykon aktywnej frazeologii polskiej i ukraińskiej) containing over 1000 phraseological units used actively in modern Polish and Ukrainian. The paper presents the results of a contrastive research in the field of phraseology.
