Abstract:
The main goal of this work was to check, how the Bulgarian interpreters deal with portmanteau neologisms in Stanisław Lem's grotesque works (Cyberiada, Kongres futurologiczny, Powtórka). The research showed, that, in fact, the most popular strategies are to create portmanteaus, or, in many cases – also compounds. It also shows, that in the Bulgarian version of Powtórka a lot of omissions appear in the text, which is due to the author's intention of making the story being told, nearly impossible to understand for the reader. That resulted also with an impossibility of being properly understood by the intepreter.
