Streszczenie:
Excessive blending of Eastern Lower-Sorbian with Western Lower-Sorbian and Polish elements in Jakubica’s translation of the New Testament prevents it from being regarded as a representative example of Eastern Lower-Sorbian dialect. Moreover, numerous Czech and Upper-Sorbian elements make it an extremely artificial language. If, as H. Schuster-Šewc assumes, Jakubica really intended to form the basis for Sorbian literary language, it should be admitted that the attempt failed.
It is highly probable, if not almost certain, that Jakubica was not proficient in any of the Sorbian dialects and therefore was unable to distinguish between them. Mixing of several Sorbian dialects with the Polish and Czech language was the consequence of insufficient linguistic competence of the translator.
