Abstract

Artykuł traktuje o winie i karze jako sekwencji zdarzen spowodowanych naruszeniem wartosci, a tym samym sprzeniewierzeniem sie Boskim prawom. Analiza materiału jest ukierunkowana na przedstawienie kognitywnych scen dopustów i kar Bozych, które w kulturze tradycyjnej interpretowane sa jako akty przywracania swiatu porzadku, a ofiarom – wiary w sprawiedliwosc. Obiegowe sady o karach, jakie spadaja na winowajców za zycia oraz obciazaja ich dusze po smierci, stereotypowe motywy, obecne w ludowych narracjach, rytualnych zachowaniach i aktach mowy (ostrzezeniach, nakazach, zakazach) wnosza istotne tresci do struktur pojeciowych winy i kary. Wykorzystanie teorii przedpojeciowych schematów wyobrazeniowych pozwala na precyzyjniejsze ustalenie przebiegu sciezek kognitywnych, łaczacych wine, kare z systemem wartosci i ustalic ich miejsce na skali „plus – minus”.

The article discusses crime and punishment as sequences of events caused by a breach of values and, by the same token, a violation of God’s laws. The analysis concentrates on cognitive portrayals of God’s punishments, which in folk traditional culture are interpreted as acts of restoring, first, order in the world and, second, the faith in justice in the victims. The commonplace judgments of punishments that befall the culprits in their lifetime and burden their souls after death, the stereotypical motifs in folk narratives, rituals and speech acts (warnings, dictates, prohibitions) contribute substantially to the conceptual structures of crime and punishment. The theory of Preconceptual Image Schemata allows for a more precise specification of what cognitive paths link crime, punishment and the relevant system of values, as well as for locating them on the plus – minus scale.
