“Welcome to Poland” at the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences

We are happy to announce that the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences received funds for the implementation of the NAWA “Welcome to Poland” program.

The aim of the “Welcome to Poland” program is to support the institutional capacity of universities holding the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and research units providing education in the aim of supporting foreign students, PhD students and academic staf.

The project of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the PAS entitled ”Science on-line. Counteracting exclusion in the international virtual space” (ON-SCIENCE) will be implemented in the years 2022-2023. The aim of the project is to internationalize ISS PAS by increasing online mobility and visibility, as well as counteracting exclusion on the Internet and preparing the institution to host more foreign researchers.

Within the program a so-called Welcome Center, a place dedicated to hosting researchers from abroad, will be created at  the Institute of Slavic Studies PAS and equipped with remote communication devices. Thanks to the funds from NAWA, promotional materials and an educational video about the activities and structure of the Institute will be created. Internal documents of ISS PAS will also be translated into English. These actions are aimed at disseminating knowledge about the Institute’s activities in the international arena, establishing cooperation with foreign researchers and facilitating their stay at the Institute of  Slavic Studies PAS.

In addition, as part of the “Welcome to Poland” program, various types of training for scientific and administrative staff will be organized. All of this is meant to strengthen the position of the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences as a prestigious Slavist research center through addressing the conditions of the changing reality of communication.

The program is implemented as a part of the project “Increasing the competences of academic staff and the institution’s potential in accepting people from abroad – “Welcome to Poland”  within the Knowledge Education Development Operational Program co-financed by the European Social Fund.
