Opis w j. angielskim:

Personal experience can be closely intertwined with the development of Holocaust studies in Ukraine, both in teaching and research. The initial institutionalization of the field at the turn of the 1990s and 2000s laid the groundwork for educational and research networks that developed over the following two decades and helped shape the professional trajectories of many educators and researchers in Ukraine. Teachers and university lecturers from Kharkiv were active participants in these networks.

An individual professional trajectory can offer insights into both the strengths and limitations of Holocaust studies in Ukraine. Viewed over a longer period, this trajectory reveals several stages: the fragmented introduction of Holocaust history into university curricula in the early 2000s; opportunities provided by international educational programs and encounters with museums, research centers, and educators in Poland and Germany; the transition to independent teaching and, eventually, research in Ukraine; and, since 2020, the particular challenges of teaching under exceptional circumstances.

This experience raises a broader question: to what extent have the educational and research networks established over previous decades contributed to the sustainability of Holocaust studies within Ukrainian universities?
